Vinnie Grigori is a human and former resident of Manhattan.
History[]
When the Trio went exploring Manhattan, Vinnie was riding his motorcycle, which piqued Lexington's interest. When Lexington swooped in for a closer look, he startled Vinnie, causing him to crash his bike. Vinnie reported the story faithfully to the authorities, and in response, they took away his license to operate a vehicle.[1]
While Vinnie was at work, on board the Fortress, Demona and Goliath broke in, destroying the giant air-ship. [1] Vinnie was subsequently fired.[2] Vinnie managed to secure another job as a security guard at Gen-U-Tech, where he failed to notice Goliath kidnapping Anton Sevarius[3], subsequently costing him another job.[2]
By this point, Vinnie had grown frustrated at the gargoyles' irritating presence in his life, so he went to Mr. Acme to purchase a pie-firing gun he named "Mr. Carter". Vinnie hunted down Goliath and shot him in the face with a banana cream pie, thereby accruing his revenge.[2]
Vinnie was interviewed by Nightwatch, where he garnered the attention of John Castaway and a mysterious benefactor in Japan who offered him a job. Before leaving for that job, Castaway recruited him to help kill Goliath. However, Vinnie, already uncertain about the righteousness of The Quarrymen's cause, rebelled and helped save Goliath.[4][5] Vinnie says goodbye to Elisa and Goliath, and says he'll be going to Japan. Elisa wonders if they should tell him there are gargoyles in Japan.
Notes[]
- Vinnie is a parody of John Travolta's character Vinnie Barbarino from the 1970s sitcom "Welcome Back, Kotter"
- He names his weapon "Mr. Carter" but because he uses the same exaggerated Brooklyn accent as Barbarino, his pronunciation of "Carter" sounds like "Kotter".
