The Norwegian Crusade was a crusade/pilgrimage led by Norwegian King Sigurd Magnusson in the early 12th century.[1]

History[]

Siege of Lisbon[]

In the spring of 1109, Magnusson led a siege on Lisbon with his fleet of 60 ships. As his men attacked from the sea, Demona led her daughter and the Norse Clan as they attacked from the skies.[1] Magnusson and his men had low casualties. No gargoyles were killed.

Battle of Formentera[]

Magnusson, his men and the gargoyles then raided Formentera's fortress.[1]

Siege of Sidon[]

In october of 1110, Magnusson, his men and the gargoyles besieged Sidon for two months before it surrendered.[1]

Aftermath[]

Following Sidon's siege, Magnusson, his forces and the gargoyles traveled to Constantinople in January of 1111. There, his men celebrated their victory in the crusade. At the Great Palace, Magnusson gave the Eye of Odin to Byzantium Emperor Alexios Komnenos as a gesture of thanks for his hospitality. In addition, Magnusson gave Komnenos what was left of his fleet and men. Magni and Modi became part of the Varangian Guard. Magnusson, several of his men and one gargoyle, Skade returned to Norway on horseback. Demona and Angelika, despite her feelings for Magni, left the city[1] and travelled to France, living near Vyones' forest in 1138.[2]
