Hunters are members of a gargoyle-hunting clan. The term is sometimes used to describe a specific trio of Hunters: Jason, Robyn, and Jon Canmore. They all harbor a great hatred for gargoyles, especially Demona, whom they refer to as "The Demon". They are known for their iconic masks that cover their faces and bear three red slash marks, influenced by Gillecomgain. Despite having hunted Demona for a thousand years, they are still apparently unaware of the fact that only Macbeth can kill her.
Hunters[]
- Constantine - Though he never officially called himself "Hunter" he was the first to wear the mask with the three red slash marks inspired by Gillecomgain's facial scars. Constantine's version of the mask also had the three red slash marks on the back as well as painted eyes.
- Gillecomgain - The first hunter, he assumed the mantle after The Demon attacked him, scarring his face.
- Prince Duncan - The first hunter in the current line of hunters; he took up the role in order to destroy Demona for ruining his attempts at assassinating his cousin, Macbeth.
- Canmore - Took up the mantle to avenge his father's death, beginning the tradition of passing the role of Hunter to progeny.
- Renaissance Hunter - Hunted Demona in Florence, Italy while she searched for the Medici Tablet.
- Jackson Canmore - Killed by Demona in 1910
- Fiona Canmore - Thwarted Demona's attempts to destroy Paris in 1920. Trained subsequent generations of Canmores to become hunters. Has since joined the Illuminati no longer seeing her family mission of hunting gargoyles as being of paramount importance, she describes the hunt as being a vignette in a much larger tapestry.
- Aron Canmore - Searched for Demona all his life in vain.
- Macbeth - Assumed the role temporarily in a suicidal attempt to destroy Demona.
- Charles Canmore - Killed in Paris in front of his children:
- Jason Canmore - Became a hunter to avenge his father; accidentally paralyzed by his brother, Jon.
- Robyn Canmore - Abandoned the family feud, and joined the Redemption Squad as Hunter.
- Jon Canmore - Initially a reluctant Hunter, became fervent Hunter after accidentally shooting his brother.
- John Castaway - Alter-ego of Jon Canmore. Founder of the Quarrymen.
